About

“I am a little pencil in the hands of a writing God, who is sending a love letter to the world.”

-Mother Theresa

I knew I wanted to be a writer before I could write. My mother would graciously volunteer to transcribe my stories as I twirled around the living room, spouting off children’s adventure tales, dreaming of the day my books would line the shelves of the world’s libraries.

Though my writing may have improved over the years, I have found the most important things in life have remained the same.

Outward success ultimately means nothing if it is not fueled by a passionate, intimate relationship with Jesus Christ. In the end, the things the world calls “big” are dwarfed in comparison to the magnificent privilege and awesome responsibility of walking with Jesus, of abandoning ourselves to Him in the secret place, even when no one else is watching.

Finding my name written on a best sellers’ list cannot compete with Father’s promise to me, “Your name is written in My hands,” (Isaiah 49:6). When we learn to live out of our unshakeable identity as the Beloved of the King, we become walking advertisements for eternity, beckoning a waiting world to join in the most fantastic adventure of all.

I desire nothing more than to introduce people to the REAL Jesus — not the monochromatic, 2-D, storybook Jesus–but the God who invented laughter, hugged lepers, and rejoices over His children with singing.

As I said in the introduction to my book, “Escaping Ordinary,” writing, for me, feels a lot like matchmaking. I don’t want to merely woo you with my words or entertain you with my stories.
I want to introduce you to Someone.
I’ve known Him for a while now, and I’ve got this gut feeling He’s the One for you. Plus, He’s been dropping some not-so-subtle hints He’s interested in speaking with you. I hope these pages become your meeting place. I pray these words wriggle free, wrap their way around your heart, and place your hand in the waiting hand of Christ.
Then I’ll watch with happy tears as you two ride away into the sunset, headed off on your very own adventures.
Maybe I’ll even throw rice or something — blow some bubbles, light some sparklers, release some butterflies.
I know…
FIREWORKS!
Definitely fireworks!
No matter what, it’s gonna be a party!

On most days you can find me loving on my studly, youth pastor husband and our two beautiful children. I still get giddy with the privilege of waking up in the West Virginia farmhouse my grandparents built over 50 years ago, and looking out the window to discover my parents’ house across the lawn. (I have the best neighbors in the world.) I have the honor of being a stay-at-home-homeschool mama, coaching multiple soccer teams, singing on my church’s worship team, and serving as a tutor in our local Classical Conversations Community.

I prefer blueberry flavoring in my coffee, have insanely curly hair, and according to Google, am the size of the average American 12-year-old. (Yes, this means I get to be a kid forever! Score!!!)
